Good performers: Fakir, Guisset, Jones (naturellement), Beattie, Chan, Casty, Rinaldi, Berthezène.
Bosc and Guigue tried hard, but didn't get the results.
Poor performers: Cologni for getting sin-binned. Silly foul. Wilson didn't really do much. Frayssinous is no full-back.

Dragons improve, but questions remain
by John Dobson
After last week's disappointment against Harlequins, Les Catalans showed a huge improvement against Hull on Sunday. David Waite and his team tried a number of variations throughout the game as the big kick off approaches. It still wasn't enough to secure a win, but there was plenty of positives to be taken away.
Laurent Frayssinous kicked off the Dragons' first game in Britain in temperatures not far above freezing. Solid opening sets from both sides set the tone for the first quarter with defences well on top as the packs tested each other out. With Jérôme Guisset and Djamel Fakir prominent and Julien Rinaldi and Stacey Jones directing operations, the Dragons began to gain the upper hand and crossed for the first try on 24 minutes. Jones' cross field kick was inch perfect for Justin Murphy to knock back under pressure to the unmarked Teddy Sadaoui to score. Frayssinous converted well from wide out for a deserved 6-0 lead.
Catalans ill discipline allowed Hull the opportunity to get back into the game. A high shot gave Hull the position to stretch the defence with quick ball movement across the line to create an overlap which Gareth Raynor used to score in the corner. Brough sent the kick wide, but Hul were back at 6-4 with half an hour gone. Les Catalans were still re-organising when Yeaman made Murphy look silly with a huge step off his right in centre field. With the line broken, Raynor was on hand to finish and with Brough's goal, Hull lead at the break 10-6.
Jones, Guisset and Fakir - the Dragons three best players - were substituted at half time and didn't return as Waite tried out some different combinations. Defence again dominated the early exchanges of the second half and again it was the Dragons who began to get on top. Poor discipline would again be the Catalans downfall and on 53 minute it boiled over. Aurélien Cologni smashed Danny Hill with a forearm to the headand was sent to the sin bin. Only three minutes of the sin bin remained when Hull took advantage of the extra man as Yeaman - a big threat all afternoon in the centres - converted an opportunity following a knock on from David Berthezène close to the line. Kirk Dixon took over the kicking duties but missed and Hull took a 14-6 lead.
Cologni had just returned to the action when precocious young scrum half Tommy Lee kicked a superb grubber to the in-goal and Raynor won the race to touch down for his hat-trick try. Dixon converted and Hull were all but safe at 20-6 with 16 minutes remaining. More needless penalties gave Hull field position eight minutes later and Peter Lupton's short ball gave Sid Domic room to crash over in the corner for 24-6.
The Catalans weren't done though, and in the dying seconds the excellent Berthezène broke the line and found the supporting Murphy. He didn't make the line as Richard Whiting recovered, but quick hands across the line found Freddie Zitter - on for Bruno Verges who left the field with a huge cut on his right knee - out wide for a try that Frayssinous couldn't convert as the hooter sounded to end the game at 24-10 to the hosts.
It was a mixed performance from the Dragons - very good in the first half and very indisciplined in the second. The pack was strong and any side with Stacey Jones in it will be a threat. Without him in the second half, Thomas Bosc, Renaud Guigue and David Berthezène tried hard, but there was little direction. The ill discipline could be a major problem and is something to work on over the next two weeks. Other than that preparation appears to be going on the right track, but there is still lots to do before Wigan arrive in Perpignan in a fortnights time.
